Operation Marilyn Monroe

As I said a few posts back, I planned on being Marilyn Monroe for Halloween this year (because I love her so) and that plan was a full on success! The wig took some time to get used to (after all it, when it comes to wigs, cheap isn't really a good way to go) but after awhile the hair and I became one. I wish I would have gotten more pictures but hey, what can ya do. There were SOOOO many unique and creative ideas, I was very impressed. We had an A+ time :)

CCC: Citizen Cope Concert

Let the Drummer Kick sensation, Citizen Cope, came to perform at the ever famous George's Majestic Lounge this past week and I was fortunate enough to be there! Between amazing seats, great crowd, and an encore,  it was impossible not to have a great time. Even after hours of playing lead singer, Clearance Greenwood, handed free CD's at the end of the show! Thank you sir, you're too kind.

Here is a video of the song they are most famous for, but you can find more videos of the concert HERE.

Dear Friends...

We all have those up and down times. And when life knocks us down, sometimes we need a little extra help.. And whenever that time comes and you're having a two-star kind of day, I want to offer a few "pick-me-up" suggestions of my own.

  •  Do something that makes you feel good about yourself. Community service, workout, facial, nails, or in this example, your makeup.

  • Watch/read/think things that make you happy.
  • And above everything else, NEVER forget how to smile.

Oh My...

I'm not sure how to describe the noises that a dog makes... Mine especially. If I had to though, I'd say it's a mix between a wolf, the scary chick from the grudge, and an occasional baby whining. For your entertainment, I bring you the wonderful language of Jackson. Happy Tuesday everyone!

Operation Birthday Bash=Sucess

The weekend went quite well. Jaime said it was her best birthday by far, which is all I wanted. We surprised her with a party bus filled endless beverages and snackage. And her favorite people of course. We went to dinner and Dickson, riding in style. Happy Birthday Jaime!

TGIF love

This has been a great Friday so far....
  • Found out I did quite well on my two tests this week.
  • Got out of my last class early, always nice.
  • R&R with the roommates.
  • And best of all, THIS WONDERFUL LADY is going to be making my birthday dress for me! I am so beyond excited and thankful she is going to help me out. Thanks Val :)
And it's not even 3pm yet! The rest of the day/night will be used for getting everything ready for the roommates' BIG BIRTHDAY tomorrow. I can't wait to show you guys what we have in store... It's going to be EPIC.

Have a wonderful weekend friends and I will be seeing you Monday! Until then, here is a little chillaxing music for your soul. Enjoy.

Birthday Dilemma-- Opening the comments back up.

One of my best friends here in Fayetteville and also my roommate, Jaime, will be celebrating her 21st birthday here in a few weeks (September 18th to be exact) and I am wanting to give her a celebration she will NEVER forget! She is a big birthday person. She always goes all out for her friends parties and also makes sure they feel extra important on their special day. Her birthday last year was absolutely ridiculous. Everyone just seemed "too busy" to do anything. She didn't even get a cake! So sad. That was before she met us, of course. Needless to say, I want to make this party amazing! I have a few ideas in mind, but I just can't seem to get anything set and stone.

And that's where you guys come in. I need your help friends. I'm going to bring back the comments for this post and I want to hear all about your 21st (or other favorite) birthday shenanigans, your friends, family members, any party ideas (doesn't have to be specifically birthday either), crafty tips, ANYTHING! Any suggestions, opinions, ideas.. send them my way!  I'm all ears.

Recent Happenings.

Well friends... Today I officially began my junior year of college. CRAZY.

Overall was a good day, and this weekend was great as well. Friday night was VIP at the Corey Smith & Eli Young Band concert (both were amazing, of course!). We met the bands and got lots of cool goodies during the performances, Saturday was filled with lunch dates, shopping, and birthday parties, then Sunday was more lunch dates followed by kickball games, (undefeated 4-0 baby!) along with some good R&R at home before classes started.

I think I am going to be pretty satisfied with my schedule this year (besides chem 2--again, ick). I am looking forward to one amazing semester!

Last Night...

WAS AMAZING!

We all had way too much fun at Ginna's party. What would a girl do without her friends?!

Now today it's off to see Ms. Devon to get my hair done.
Then later tonight it's more girl time with some long lost friends. Hooray.
I must say it has been quite a nice couple of days lately. I am very blessed!

Bachelorette Part-tay!

Tonight I will be attending one of my dearest friends hen party and I cannot wait! She is "technically" already married. Long story. But, her hubby is gone to Afghanistan and will be home in roughly a month; where they will then be moving to Cali shortly after since he is stationed there. Sure going to miss her. ANYWAY... We thought it was about time she had her long overdue and much deserved bachelorette shin-dig! So. Darn. Excited.

Countdown...

In officially ONE WEEK from today,
I will be frolicking around on the beach with my best friend and a yummy drink in one hand
and a good book in another.
Life doesn't get much better than that.
*Blissful sigh*

Recent Happenings

Wow, Lots of excitement/events have happened since my last post! I decided I would let the pictures do the talking. But first, a few thank you's are due...

Thank you again to all my wonderfuly family and friends that showed me support and excitement regarding my most recent adventure (Australia). Thank you, thank you. I will be more than happy to hear any advice or ideas over these next few months of planning. The list of "things to do" once I'm there has begun!

Also, thank you for your thoughts and prayers for my nana who underwent back surgery today. After many long hours spent at the hospital (and still here), the doctor came back with a great report saying the surgery couldn't have gone better!

And now, I'm back in Oklahoma for a short time to help take care of my grandmother and plan our family reunion. Summer fun part 2 begins, now!

And the decision is.... AUSTRALIA!

Let's put another shrimp on the barbie mate...

I'm going to Australia kids! I met with my study abroad advisor today and we decided on a destination, and Australia it is. Since I unfortunately speak no other language besides english, I want to travel somewhere that obviously speaks the same language as I do. We had it narrowed down between Scotland and Australia, but I feel like this is the place for me. I am SO BEYOND EXCITED!

If all goes according to plan, I will continue my dietetic studies at the University of Wollongong. You pronounce it, Wool-n-gong, ha! It is about 50 miles south of Sydney (an hour train ride) and the main campus has many views overlooking the Pacific Ocean.

I don't want to get too far ahead of myself here. There is still A LOT of paper work, money, and time invested ahead of me but I know it will all be worth it once I'm there. I plan to go in the spring of 2011. Let the preparation begin!

Main goal: pet a kangaroo. Kidding! Sorta...

WOW.

I don't know if I have ever had a more ridiculous week like this last one has been. I don't want to say it was "bad", parts of it were great, but it all was just too much for a 5-day span.

  • Two tests, one project, one quiz.
  • Two of my close friends in Fayetteville moved this week. Horrible, horrible.
  • JAIME CAME HOME!
  • Busted lip from playing with Jackson. Nothing says, "I love you mom" like a hit in the lip with your head. Fat lip does NOT suit me well.
  • TV goes out.
  • Unable to attend certain events going on in Oklahoma this weekend due to work conflicts. EXTREMELY upset about this. From what I've heard, it's going to be a lot of fun.
  • And finally... We were informed on Wednesday that we would be getting a new/random roommate to fill the empty 4th room in our apartment. She moved in yesterday.
Now, don't get me wrong, Caitlin (new roomie) seems awesome. We all had drinks and play time last night to get to know each other a little more. AND she is a die hard Office and Twilight fan... I think we will get along just fine! She also brought an adorable/giant bulldog along with her named Junior. However, I just think my body and emotions have been on overload and right now, things to just be going through the motions. I literally just want to curl up in bed, in fear of more things happening. With my last week of school ahead, going through the motions is the last thing I need to be doing.

Phew. I'm done kids. No more complaining. Here are a few pics from the week...

WEDDING BELLS!

The time is here folks! Can't believe it's so.
Ryan and Kendra are tying the knot!
I can't wait to head to Tulsa and celebrate the union of two close friends.
Congrats guys, I'm so incredibly happy for you both!
Also, reunion/pre-wedding dinner with friends from near and far at Kilkenny's!
Look how beautiful they are...

I keep using these (!) because I'm so excited.
Such a FUN weekend ahead.
Let the celebrations, BEGIN!
