Inspiration Station: A Seed of Thought

About a month ago, I had the wonderful privilege to meet Alex Petrou and Lamar Ahchee. These could quite possibly be some of the most generous men I know to date. They are two co-founders of the amazing Agency called Seed Of Thought.

In their own words,
“Seed of Thought is a dynamic and professional Corporate Social Responsibility Agency, that specializes in community based projects which address social justice, economic growth and environmental sustainability.
Our mission is to create innovative solutions that enhance both the reputation and integrity of our clients while captivating the hearts and minds of the wider community.”
Seed of thought strives to promote charity events and projects that help aid those in need.

Alex just finished a beyond exhausting 3 day 96K trek through the Kodoka Trail; A hike that typically would take 10+ days even for the best of athletes. He and fellow founder Dion did this to help raise money for three young girls with brain tumors. Find their story here.
"In April 2011 join Alex Petrou from the Seed of Thought Group and Dion Taylor of Wild Spirit Adventures in their quest to complete one of the most difficult treks in the world – The Kokoda trail, 96 kilometres of harsh mountainous terrain in just 3 days. Their goal is to rally the community of North Queensland together to raise vital funds for Brain tumour victims Evie, Saffron and Kim, so they can receive the treatment they require to overcome their respective conditions and live on to inspire others around them."

If he can selflessly complete the challenge of a lifetime to help three girls' fight for survival; and both of these men can dedicate their lives for the greater good of man.... I think we could help out too! Don't you?! :) Please continue to spread the word of Seed of Thought as they have many, MANY big and exciting projects ahead. Also, if you would like to donate a dollar or two for the girls with brain tumors, GO HERE!

I hope you guys can take the time to read about these great guys and their amazing goals for the future! With just the short time I've known them, they've inspired me to do so much better... To BE so much better! Good luck guys on all your future endeavors!

Surviving the Male Species: A must read

Remember yesterday how I said my roomie Liv would write some
of the best stuff you've ever read??
Well... I rest my case.
Olivia's tips on how to survive the male species:

1. ALWAYS use tears as blackmail
2. NEVER try and give them hints... they never understand.
3. When a guy uses a pick-up line like 'If you were a burger at McDonalds i'd call you McBeautiful...'  WALK AWAY
4. If they turn and run when you pucker up... they probably aren't interested.
5. When a guy breaks up with you keep all his clothes... they are useful to practice your tie dye!
6. Always date someone taller than you
7. if your best mate is a player... DON'T set him up with a girl friend.
8. ALWAYS aim for a tradey.. they look good with dirt on their face.
9. If a guy punches a wall.. run.. you did something wrong!
10. Only talk to them during an ad break.. it's the only time they'll listen
11. DON'T ask them what they're thinking about unless you are prepared to discuss such topics as navel lint, the shotgun formation, or monster trucks.
12. If you ask a question you don't want an answer to.. expect an answer you don't want to hear.
13. Making a male sleep on the couch isn't punishment... it makes them feel like they are camping.
14. NEVER leave them alone around $3 beers.
15. Christopher Columbus did not need directions, and apparently neither do they.

--This is my roommate everyone!
I'm pretty lucky to live next to a funny character like her!
She's pretty much the bomb.com
Happy Tuesday/Wednesday loves :)

Sometimes, we all really should just bite our tongues.

Because even if you don't mean to... You could really hurt someone.
Watch what you say and be careful for what you do.
Even when you are just complaining about something that may seem silly or minimal to you......
It could truly break someone's heart.

Some of the truest words ever spoken... Thanks Thumper.

insecure.

Who makes you feel the most insecure?
Seriously.
Who?

Is it someone you have sworn you can't stand, someone you consider a threat, someone you consider a friend, or dare I say, yourself?
Or maybe it's some'thing' instead of a person...
Maybe it's both.....

What kind of things do they make you feel?

Take a few moments to let yourself feel whatever emotions you are feeling.
Suppression is never good.
....................
....................
....................
Now let go.
Let go of whatever power you are letting this person, yourself, or even thing have over your happiness.
It's. Not. Worth. It.
Let go of it all.
After all, you are the "captain of your soul."

i'm rubber and you're glue, whatever you call me bounces off and sticks to you!

Someone done you wrong........?
Don't stoop to their level. Vent to a friend, let your emotions out, and move on. You anger is only poisoning your mind, body, and soul.

The Gingham Dress

A lady in a faded gingham dress and her husband, dressed in a Homespun threadbare suit, stepped off the train in Boston , and walked timidly without an appointment into the Harvard University President's outer office.

The secretary could tell in a moment that such backwoods, country hicks had no business at Harvard and probably didn't even deserve to be in Cambridge.

'We'd like to see the president,' the man said softly. 'He'll be busy all day,' the secretary snapped. 'We'll wait,' the lady replied.

For hours the secretary ignored them, hoping that the couple would finally become discouraged and go away. They didn't, and the secretary grew frustrated and finally decided to disturb the president, even though it was a chore she always regretted.

'Maybe if you see them for a few minutes, they'll leave,' she said to him!

He sighed in exasperation and nodded. Someone of his importance obviously didn't have the time to spend with them, and he detested gingham dresses and homespun suits cluttering up his outer office.

The president, stern faced and with dignity, strutted toward the couple. The lady told him, 'We had a son who attended Harvard for one year. He loved Harvard. He was happy here. But about a year ago, he was accidentally killed. My husband and I would like to erect a memorial to him, somewhere on campus.'

The president wasn't touched. He was shocked. 'Madam,' he said, gruffly, 'we can't put up a statue for every person who attended Harvard and died. If we did, this place would look like a cemetery.'

'Oh, no,' the lady explained quickly. 'We don't want to erect a statue. We thought we would like to give a building to Harvard.'

The president rolled his eyes. He glanced at the gingham dress and homespun suit, then exclaimed, 'A building! Do you have any earthly idea how much a building costs?
We have over seven and a half million dollars in the physical buildings here at Harvard.'

For a moment the lady was silent. The president was pleased. Maybe he could get rid of them now.

The lady turned to her husband and said quietly, 'Is that all it costs to start a university? Why don't we just start our own?'

Her husband nodded. The president's face wilted in confusion and bewilderment. Mr. and Mrs. Leland Stanford got up and walked away, traveling to Palo Alto , California where they established the university that bears their name, Stanford University, a memorial to a son that Harvard no longer cared about.

You can easily judge the character of others by how they treat those who they think can do nothing for them.

A journey in jeans-- this is so cool!

"The video, which was sponsored by Levi's and combines stop-motion with time-lapse photography, features a man (wearing denim, natch) walking from New York to San Francisco. ABC News explains that "the video is not conventional moving pictures. It pieces together still photos taken on an actual, 14-day cross country trip — no green screens involved." When all was said and done, it took over 2,700 images to complete."

Hey, look! It's Arkansas

Today, Yahoo ran a story about the top ten best places to live in the US, and wouldn't you know good ol' Rogers, Arkansas is number 10! Rogers is about 20 minutes away from Fayetteville and my friends and I go there often for shopping, dining, etc. They have an awesome outdoor mall! It's such a great place to be, like Fayetteville of course. I was ecstatic when I saw this article. Shows all the haters out there, Arkansas isn't all rednecks and confederate flags! I love my new home.

See full article here.

cherish

Sometimes, I feel like we take for granted the present happiness we have.

Throughout life,

Things change. People change. Life happens.

Friendships dwindle away, people move on, let go, and slowly the comfort of certain relationships, goes away.

Not all, but some.

And it's no ones fault.

Just apart of life, although I must say one that I do not like one bit.

We cannot keep things the way they are forever.

But do not be sad, for more happiness awaits, just simply a new kind.

We just have to be open and willing to embrace it.

So, make sure to cherish
 those moments
 those interactions
 those friendships
that make you the happiest!

A Women's Perfect Breakfast

A husband and wife were
In argument about who

should brew the coffee each morning.

The wife said, 'You should do it because you get up first,

and then we don't have to wait as long to get our coffee.
The husband said, 'You are in charge of cooking around here and
you should do it, because that is your job, and I can just wait for my coffee.'
Wife replies, 'No, you should do it, and besides, it is in the Bible that the man should do the coffee.'

Husband replies, 'I can't believe that, show me.'

So she fetched the Bible, and opened the New Testament and showed him at the top of several pages, that it indeed says .

I Can Only Imagine

So, lately I have been really struggling with my training. The miles are getting longer and running alone compared to my team at Fleet Feet, is well... No comparison. The motivation and positive energy I have with them is undeniable.

I was scheduled to run 14 miles today. The farthest I have yet to go has been 12, and that was with my group. So needless to say, I was definitely doubting myself big time that I was able to run 14 alone.

Then I receive an email from my mom that has changed my life forever.

Be prepared to be moved beyond belief at this video. I am still crying typing this post. I hope it can help move, motivate, speak, and change parts of your life you're struggling with.  We all have been blessed. And no matter how hard things may be, all things are possible through Him.

Also, keep in mind while watching this video; The distances in an IronMan race are 2.4 mile swim, 112 mile bike ride, and a full marathon- 26.2 mile run.

Here are more videos of Rick and Dick Hoyt.

Oh, and PS... I ran 14 miles today :)
