Call Me Maybe Parody: Some of my favs!

OK, we all know and love (or, at least you should) the song "Call Me Maybe" by Carly Rae Jepsen.
And we all also have seen the best home video of all time.

Within the past few days I've seen some awesome parodies, that were making fun of paradies... and who doesn't love that. This song is taking over the world. I don't know why but seriously(!) EVERY.SINGLE.TIME. it comes on my day is instantly better. So, I thought I would share a few of these LOL vids with you and hopefully it brightens your day too!

Lets be honest...
This one is alright.
But, it's really just all about the hot baseball players.
I mean serioulsy, are these guys real?
They go to Harvard.
They play baseball (my weakness).
They are smokin' hot.
AND they listen to Call Me Maybe.
I want one.

Parody of a parody... classic.

Most of you know about my love affair with Australia, but for those that don't, I lived there for about 6 months and it was pretty much the greatest time of my life. So, this video is just too perfect! The lingo, the SUPER THICK accents, the Australian humor. I can't deal.
I don't know if anyone else will appreciate this one as much as I do though, so if you don't laugh, don't worry. It's not you, it's me.
I had my roommate watch it last night and she merely chuckled as I was hysterically cracking up.

Happy Tuesday everyone!

Give Into Me

This song is probably one of the most beautiful songs I've ever heard. Truly, just take in each lyric. It's so passionate and raw; the emotions and depth of the words are impossible to miss.
You’re gonna take my hand
Whisper the sweetest words
And if you’re ever sad
I’ll make you laugh
I’ll chase the hurt
My heart is set on you
I don’t want no one else
And if you don’t want me
I guess I’ll be all by myself
I definitely want to dance to this song at my wedding someday :)

With this cold, rainy weekend we got going on here in AR... I could just listen to this all day long :)
Oh, and of course the fact that Garrett Hedlund's voice makes me shiver all over probably helps too.

how great Thou art

After my friend, Nicole, posted this to her Facebook, I couldn't help but pass it along. This performance by Carrie Underwood not only gives me chills all over but literally makes me tear up. I can't even imagine having that kind of a voice. And I truly feel, regardless of your beliefs about the song, that her performance is nothing short of amazing and every religion can respect that.
Anytime I start feeling a little low, I just want to turn this on and blare it through the speakers.

Happy Tuesday/Wednesday!

It's like music to my ears!

So, I'm not sure if you guys knew this or not, but...
I.LOVE.MUSIC.
Seriously, I love it.
Even though I like to think I dabble a bit in it all... I'm not as well rounded in the music world as I'd like to be. I love it nonetheless! It's just so soothing to fall asleep to, or blow out your speakers when you're feeling angry, blare when you have your windows rolled down or just wanna dance, sing along with while you're in the car alone {c'mon you know you do it}, or chill out to while you gather with a group of friends...
No matter what the occasion, music just flat out rocks my socks off.

So in honor of my little soap box... I thought I'd share a few new & fun tunes I have come across!

Adele + new album + same UH-AMAZING voice = love love love.

And a new found love is an Aussie native, Lisa Mitchell
She is lovely and I heart her. The end :)

Do something good for yourself today! Hop on over to iTunes and purchase a song or two :) You'll be so happy you did!
What music do you like to listen to?

Tuesday meets Schuyler Fisk

Not sure how the weather is on your side of town (wherever that may be) but today in Arkansas it's stormy and grey.
And. I. Love. It.

Sometimes, there's nothing as calming as a good thunderstorm. And with a short schedule today, I fully plan on enjoying this day as much as possible. Starting with some tunes from Schuyler Fisk. I really do think she may posses my favorite female voice. All of her songs are so real and meaningful, while at the same time carrying a tune that could calm a new born baby at 3am. Never heard of her? Oh, you should change that... ASAP. To hear some life changing music, visit here.

Here is a song a lot of you might already know from it's famous part in the motion picture, Dear John. She collaborates with Joshua Radin and it very well may be the greatest collaboration of all time. But hey that's just me though. You decide for yourself.

CCC: Citizen Cope Concert

Let the Drummer Kick sensation, Citizen Cope, came to perform at the ever famous George's Majestic Lounge this past week and I was fortunate enough to be there! Between amazing seats, great crowd, and an encore,  it was impossible not to have a great time. Even after hours of playing lead singer, Clearance Greenwood, handed free CD's at the end of the show! Thank you sir, you're too kind.

Here is a video of the song they are most famous for, but you can find more videos of the concert HERE.

TGIF love

This has been a great Friday so far....
  • Found out I did quite well on my two tests this week.
  • Got out of my last class early, always nice.
  • R&R with the roommates.
  • And best of all, THIS WONDERFUL LADY is going to be making my birthday dress for me! I am so beyond excited and thankful she is going to help me out. Thanks Val :)
And it's not even 3pm yet! The rest of the day/night will be used for getting everything ready for the roommates' BIG BIRTHDAY tomorrow. I can't wait to show you guys what we have in store... It's going to be EPIC.

Have a wonderful weekend friends and I will be seeing you Monday! Until then, here is a little chillaxing music for your soul. Enjoy.

Wedneday.

Caught a cold.
Couldn't sleep.
Long day ahead.
Must be Wednesday...

Think I'll wear my Marilyn Monroe tshirt to class and listen to some John Mayer to help give the day a little pep. Or maybe me a little pep...

Oh, Nickel Creek. Only you could remake a Britney Spears song and make it not only bearable but dare I say... enjoyable?!

Recent Happenings.

Well friends... Today I officially began my junior year of college. CRAZY.

Overall was a good day, and this weekend was great as well. Friday night was VIP at the Corey Smith & Eli Young Band concert (both were amazing, of course!). We met the bands and got lots of cool goodies during the performances, Saturday was filled with lunch dates, shopping, and birthday parties, then Sunday was more lunch dates followed by kickball games, (undefeated 4-0 baby!) along with some good R&R at home before classes started.

I think I am going to be pretty satisfied with my schedule this year (besides chem 2--again, ick). I am looking forward to one amazing semester!

A journey in jeans-- this is so cool!

"The video, which was sponsored by Levi's and combines stop-motion with time-lapse photography, features a man (wearing denim, natch) walking from New York to San Francisco. ABC News explains that "the video is not conventional moving pictures. It pieces together still photos taken on an actual, 14-day cross country trip — no green screens involved." When all was said and done, it took over 2,700 images to complete."

Look!

Now and Then + Sugar Sugar

A child favorite, Now and Then was on TV last night. I just love that movie. A little cheesy but hey, that's the 90's for ya. I loved watching and thinking about what my friends and I will be doing in 10 years from now. Which ones will still be in each others lives, which ones won't, where we will be, who will be married, who won't, kids, no kids, what occupations we will acquire, or if we will still be at the jobs we have now... So many possibilities!

and of course, it left me singing one of my all time favorite songs... Sugar, Sugar.

(be prepared, you WILL be singing this for the rest of the day.)

Hellllooooo Summer!

Summer, reunited at last. Man, I've missed you!

Summer classes are officially over for yours truly. Can't say they were easy, fun, or enjoyable at all. They kicked my butt actually. But, they're over. Phew!

And it's Friday! Can't ask for a better ending than that. This weekend will consist of work tonight and Sunday, and whatever I feel like doing in between. FREEDOM!

I thought I would leave you with this video clip of  the world's reaction to Landon Donovan scoring the winning goal during USA's most recent soccer, s'cuse me, football game. This seriously made my cry and gave me chills the entire time. What an extraordinary moment for our country in such a low point in our history. Keep it up guys, we're all cheering for ya!

Marilyn Monroe

Happy Birthday Marilyn Monroe!

I know if she were still here today, she would be the most beautiful 84 year old woman alive.

Here is a clip of her oh, so scandalous Happy Birthday tribute to JFK. Love her.

Summary.

So, this weekend was great! Very busy to say the least. My wagon is draggin' this morning for sure.

Started off with the EYB concert on Friday and holy smokes, it was AMAZING! Yours truly was front row :) Lost my voice and got a guitar pic and all!

Then Saturday drove to OKC, which was A LOT longer trip than I remembered it to be. Almost 4 hours, gross. But it was so worth it to see all my wonderful friends and Adam and Kirstie tie the not. Definitely made a horrid attempt to do Beyonce's "Single Ladies" dance... yikes.

Then Sunday, after some hilarious reminiscing with friends on stories of dodging the cops, I hoped in the car and traveled back to Fay where I have a nice little Chem 2 test waiting on me at 6pm tonight (Monday), ick.

Overall, weekend=success. Hope you all had a great one as well. Happy Monday!

A few pics from the concert!

Fried Pickles and The Proclaimers

So, last night while I was out with my lovely friends, I tried fried pickels for the FIRST time (thanks kendra)! Holy delicious. I am hooked now. Yes, I know it's hard for something fried to be not-delicious. Ah goodness, I am definitely from south.

Well, now that I have made my fatty post of the week, HAVE A GREAT WEEKEND EVERYONE! I'm going to leave you with a little up beat song from the past. Don't worry... You will be singing it all weekend!

Go

Little change of the heart
Little light in the dark
Little hope that you just might find your way up out of here
‘Cause you’ve been hiding for days
Wasted and wasting away
But I got a little hope that today you’ll face your fears

Yeah I know that it’s not easy
I know that it’s so hard
Follow the lights to the city
And get up and

Go, take a chance and be strong
Or you could spend your whole life holding on
Don’t look back just go,
Take a breath, move along
Or you could spend your whole life holding on
You could spend your whole life holding on

Believe the tunnel can end
Believe your body can mend
Yeah I know you can make it through
‘Cause I believe in you
So let’s go put up a fight
Let’s go make everything alright
Go on and take a shot go give it all you got

Oh yeah I know that it’s not easy
I know that it’s hard
Yeah it’s not always pretty

Get up and go,
Take a chance and be strong
Or you could spend your whole life falling on
Don’t look back just go,
Take a breath and move along
You could spend your whole life holding on
You could spend your whole life holding on

Don’t wanna wake up to the telephone ring
Are you sitting down?
I need to tell you something
Enough is enough, you can stop waiting to breathe
And don’t wait up for me

Get up and go
Take a chance and be strong
You can spend your whole life holding on

Don’t look back just go
Take a breath, move along
Or you could spend your whole life holding on
You could spend your whole life holding on
Don’t spend your whole life holding on
