A "did you know" & first video log!

I'M GOING TO AUSTRALIA!!!
... That's right friends! I'm moving to Australia for 5 months come this February.

Some of you already knew that I'm sure, but I know a few of you didn't either so
I just wanted to start with saying that :)

For more details, visit here!

Since receiving my acceptance letter, I have learned a few things about life as an Aussie. A lot has come from people that either:
1.) Are Australian
2.) Have lived there
OR,
3.) From these little handy dandy books my papa snagged at a yard sale.
A YARD SALE PEOPLE!
What are the odds :)

Examples:
  • Shoes are called Uggs.
    • "Go put your shoes on."
    • "Go put your uggs on."
  • Gum is called Chewy.
  • I will be living in the future!
    • The time here is 11:50(ish)am and where I will be staying {Wollongong}, the time is 3:50am... TOMORROW.
{They actually don't even sell Aussie hair care products in the entire country, ha!
Kind of ironic.}

And now ladies and gentlemen,
MY FIRST EVER VIDEO LOG!!!!
Yikes.
I wanted to start recording all of my thoughts, ideas, experiences, etc. that had ANYTHING to do with Australia. Sort of like a video diary. {Think documentation like in Avatar}. I plan on documenting until I leave the "land down under!"
So, bare with me guys as I ridiculously+humorously attempt to document this once in a lifetime experience. I want to be able to look back on all my adventures and smile, laugh, cry and honestly try and get the most out of this AMAZING opportunity as possible. Because lets face it, what better way to remember than actually watching it all happen? And of course, I want to share it with my family and friends as well. It will be just like we are there together!
Join me, won't you?!
((My apologies now for the bad lighting and sound))

Love the v-log!! And I think I'm more in love with the name of the place you'll be staying in Australia. Its just fun to say (though I'm probably pronouncing it completely wrong)

First of all, SO excited for you that you're moving to Austrailia! HOW EXCITING! :) Second, it's super fun to hear your voice! I put voices to all my blog buddies but now I really know! Soon you'll start talking with an Aussie accent though, I'll have to change accordingly for that ;)

hahaha! you are so funny. "my boyfriend taylor lautner is joining us". Love it.

I have no idea what I would do if i went to Australia- but the first one I thought of was scuba diving in the Great Barrier Reef, and then whoa, you said it. I didn't even think of petting a kangaroo or holding a koala, but if you do, please post pictures and vlog about it, because I am insanely jealous.

And I'm pretty sure you can take beginning scuba diving classes so you can go for a day dive. I've done it before in Aruba and it was amazing! I would have to do it in Australia.

As I ramble...anyways, I loved your first vlog and I can't wait to hear/watch more! "Bad lighting" and all :)

oh my love!! i have been bursting since our little chit chat the other day for you to share this beautiful news with everyone! i am so excited for you and i can not wait to hear (and see) more from you on this. it is a big dream of mine to travel to australia, and i am so excited that i will get to see it first hand from you!

your video is fantastic and i think you did absolutely fabulous with it :) so i do not think i will be much help with telling you what to do there, because you already have my number 1 on your list...scuba diving! i am certified and have been scuba diving in cozumel and it was amazing...i can't imagine what it would be like there, but you should definitely do it!!! like e.day said i think you can just do a little training and do a day dive or something like that.

ah and surfing...i'm so excited to see all of this!!!

xoxo

Ek! I didn't know you were going to Australia. That is too exciting, and I think the VLOG is a wonderful way to document your journey.
Can't wait to see more.

The first thing I thought of when you asked what to do is snorkel, but you covered that. So, I would add travel as much as you can by foot. See everything firsthand. Up close and personal. Anytime I travel I try to do this, and always end up finding things I would have missed if I had been cruising.

SO AWESOME! You are gonna have SO much fun, girl! And I cannot wait to come with you on your journey....er...through the blog world! Your video blog is so cute, girl! You're adorable! I love the idea of doing a video every time you talk about Australia.. I always wish I did more videos after the fact. Like, we got home from Maui with only a few videos, but I LOVE them. I'm like "why on earth didn't I take more?!" Videos are just cool on so many fronts..

A blog friend I really dig just got back from Australia! She and her hubby were there for a few weeks. I found her October archive, where a lot of the posts were... Go check it out if you get a chance! :)

I am SO excited that you are getting the chance to study abroad! And Australia sounds like such a cool place, too. I can't wait to see all of your pictures and see more awesome videos!

I studied in Italy last summer, so once I hear more about your trip, if I think of any advice that will be particularly helpful I will type you a novel. =)

Taylor Lautner = sex on a stick.

Video log has your entire personality shining through it all!

As far as Australia: GREAT BARRIER REEF! I also think I would LOVE to go visit the Sydney Opera House. Just because it's probably one of the most notorious Aussie landmarks.

I had a sorority sister who studied in Australia, and she blogged about her semester abroad. Maybe reading her blog will give you some ideas!
