New Camera

I need a new camera friends.

My poor Canon has been through well, you know where and back. The lens protector on it broke awhile back and now all my pictures have a nice black dot on them in the right corner. It also smokes. Yes, that's right, smokes. It's a great camera though. It takes amazing pictures and has held up through college parties, water, snow, family reunions, fireworks.. You name it. BUT... I can tell it's starting to feel the usage wearing and tearing on it.

So... I'm in search for something new and better. The older I get the more and more I become obsessed with taking pictures. I will be the first to tell you, I honestly know nothing about cameras or photography, BUT taking pictures makes me happy. And I do it quite often. I think it will be a great investment especially when I am overseas. I want to get the most out of that experience as I can.

So, that's why I am coming to you guys! I would love to hear your thoughts and opinions about what type of camera I should go for. Like I said, I have a Canon Elph Series right now. It's a great camera. Should I stick with Canon? Or test out new waters with Nikon, Olympus, Fujifilm, etc.? I'm wanting something along this style:

I'm a canon girl myself, but I've heard really good things about Nikon as well! I think it just depends on what little perks you want and which brand has them.

Good luck! I'm on the search for a new camera myself.

I have an Olympus Stylus I got it earlier this year, and it is an amazing 'keep in your purse for those special moment' pictures. I also have a Sony Cybershot which is good for 'close-ups'. And I have my Nikon 3000 which is by far the best camera I have ever purchased! It works for everything!

But good luck on finding one! It's kinda hard..

Ultimately, it depends on what you are wanting the camera for. Kendra could tell you more that I could probably. But for starters you need to decided if you want an easily mobile camera, or a high-res semi-pro camera. I have both and I'm completely satisfied with both for either setting. I have the SD1400IS for party pics and the Rebel XSi for pro pics (like Ken and Ry's wedding photos). Really it just depends on what you are wanting to take pictures of. Being a point a shoot from what I have seen most from you I would suggest the SD1400IS or an equivalent later model from Canon. I'm 100% Canon at this point. They are perfect for the last 7 years I have used them.

Thank you all!! I appreciate you taking the time to give your advice and help me along with my new camera adventure. I think it's going to take some time and like you all said, a tough decision. But, hopefully after some research and bargain shopping, I can find my perfect photo-taking device!

Thanks again.
